This little stallion is the second of my polymer-rocker horses. He measures under 2" from his forehead to the base of his tail and is just over 1½" tall. With his rockers he measures 4" across and 2¼" high. He is made of very soft, fawn cashmere-type upholstery velvet. He has onyx bead eyes and a luxurious black mane and tail made of silky waved viscose hair. I have also needle-sculpted his body to give additional definition to his front and back legs. He is stuffed with polyfil. Additionally, I have added black and dark brown shading to his lower legs for a more realistic bay horse look.

With every horse I make, I strive to create more realistic tack. Prince's bridle and reins are made of narrow (1/16th inch) ultrasuede straps and tiny brass jump rings. I have added a tiny gold glass bead where the straps of the bridle cross at the top. The saddle is made of dark brown leather, and is removable. It it made of three separate leather parts, with the straps for the stirrups hanging over the flaps, and an ultrasuede girth (1/8th inch wide) below the flap. The girth fastens with two D-rings. The stirrups are made of brass wire and are attached to the saddle with ultrasuede straps. The saddle has an additional leather wedge at the back to give it height. You can judge its size by comparing it to my hand (and I have large hands!).

The rockers are made of FIMO polymer clay, mixed of different colours for an antique pine or cypress faux wood-effect. There are four round bars between the rockers and five slats in the center. After assembly, I varnished the "wood" for a satin finish. I made holes through the rockers before baking them and the little horse is sewn onto them using extra-strength black nylon thread. He can really rock!

In addition to being a beautiful companion for a bear, he will also look lovely in a 1:12 dollhouse nursery. (My photograph shows him in my Sewing Room vignette box.)
