I am always experimenting with new ideas and following on from my all-fabric rocking horses I have developed this brand new miniature rocking horse design: it features rockers hand-sculpted of polymer clay, giving my little black stallion an old-fashioned look.
This noble little horse measures just 2" from his forehead to the base of his tail and is 1½" tall. With his rockers he measures 4" across and 2¼" high. He made of pure black medium-pile upholstery velvet. He has onyx bead eyes and a luxurious mane and tail made of silky waved viscose hair. I have also needle-sculpted his body to give additional definition to his front an d back legs. He is stuffed with polyfil.
I have given special attention to creating realistic tack for this little rocking horse: his bridle and reins are made of narrow (1/16th inch) ultrasuede straps and tiny nickel-plated jump rings. The saddle is made of dark brown leather, and is removable. It it made of two separate leather parts, with the straps for the stirrups hanging over the flaps and an ultrasuede girth (1/8th inch wide) below the flap. The girth fastens with two D-rings. The stirrups are made of silver wire and are attached to the girth with ultrasuede straps. I have added a tiny red felt saddle blanket for comfort and a little splash of color.
The rockers are made of FIMO polymer clay, mixed of different colours for a dark faux wood-effect. There are four round bars between the rockers and five slats in the center. After assembly, I varnished the "wood" for a satin finish. I made holes through the rockers before baking them and the little horse is sewn onto them using extra-strength black nylon thread. He really rocks!
In addition to being a beautiful companion for a bear, he will also look lovely in a 1:12 dollhouse nursery. (My photograph below shows him in my Sewing Room vignette box.)
He will come to you with his very own little passport, signed and dated, bearing a unique passport number.
